Artist Statement:
With this still life I wanted to focus on making the back fabric at realistic as I could. I spend hours on the winkles alone, carefully building up texture and mood, keeping the colours blue, yellow and green to create cohesion. I wanted to express my admiration of the moon and all of the folk lore that surrounds it. each part of the painting and element that points to the moon. I took things from around my house that were personal to me to make the image more meaningful and life like. I don’t really enjoy still life’s but I learned a lot from this process and got to understand my process of art more.
