Unit One: Casting
Title: incomplete and fractured
Medium: Resin and rock
Name: Kimberly Holmes
Artist Statement:
I took items from my childhood, my mothers old nativity set and cast them in resin. I chose the three wise men because when I was small I would steal them away make up grand stories and play with them. I wanted to pay homage to the amount of times I lost one or two of them only to replace the characters with other objects like stones or a toothbrush. I chose the story The crickets have arthritis by Shane Koyasan because It was the first pome of his I had very heard. And much like the memories of the little figures the memory of hearing this pome weighs heavy on my heart, a small catalyst that has pushed me into the art of story telling in many forms.
